Kimberly A. Millington is a senior associate with Braden, Hinchcliffe & Hawley and has been running the firm's Northern California office since May of 2007. Ms. Millington has sixteen years experience handling personal injury (including wrongful death) cases and nine years experience handling construction defect cases. She also has significant experience handling products liability, general liability, subrogation, professional liability, elder abuse, condemnation, real estate, and business litigation cases. Ms. Millington has litigated cases throughout Northern and Southern California.
Ms. Millington has tried seven cases, four cases representing plaintiffs (including one subrogation action), and three cases representing defendants. She first-chaired two jury trials and one bench trial in State Court, and second-chaired three jury trials in State Court and one bench trial in Federal Court.
In addition to her well-rounded trial experience, Ms. Millington has prepared over twenty successful motions for summary judgment during her career, and a successful petition for writ to the Court of Appeal. She also has experience with post-trial motion and appellate work. Ms. Millington has substantial experience taking and defending party, witness, and expert depositions. She negotiated the settlement of hundreds of cases.
Ms. Millington earned a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA. She earned her law degree from Southwestern University. She served as a Law Review staff member and research editor. In addition, she received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Legal Research and Writing, and Exceptional Achievement Awards for Community Property and Entertainment Law. She also received the Dean's Merit Scholarship and the Southwestern Affiliates Scholarship. In addition to taking a unique Alternative Dispute Resolution course during law school, Ms. Millington also obtained dispute resolution training during a special three-day course early in her career.
Ms. Millington has handled cases for private companies, individuals, third-party administrators, and insurance companies. Ms. Millington is admitted to practice before all State courts, and before the United States District Courts' Northern and Central districts.
